Iolite was originally made to be a member of Blue Diamond's court. She served
under Blue Diamond for thousands of years, and during one unusually
severe attack, her physical form was critically damaged. Iolite retreated
into her gem to reform, but she had been damaged so badly,
she could not find the strength to regain her full size. Because of this,
Blue Diamond and the rest of her court saw Iolite as inferior and unworthy
of her former authoritative role. They sent her off to join Chameleon
Diamond's ragtag court of gems instead.
